Three terraces on a steep plot: dining, a cutting garden, and a quiet lawn under a single mulberry.
The brief
A Georgian house with a garden that fell away too fast to use. The family wanted somewhere to eat, somewhere to pick, and a place for children that was not a trampoline.
The approach
We cut three level terraces in Bath stone, with generous steps and a hidden play lawn on the lowest. Hydrangea, rose and herb on the middle terrace; the mulberry kept and underplanted.
The outcome
The garden is now the way the house is used in summer. Build first; then a monthly care retainer.
